Twelve members of the Bridgewater College track and field program have earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor All-Region honors, which were announced by the USTFCCCA office Friday, May 19.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned all-region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-three ranked relay teams.
Peter Fulton earned his All-South region selections in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. Fulton led the South region in the discus (53.25 meters / 174' 8.0") and the hammer (60.34 meters / 197' 11.0"), while sporting the fifth-best mark in the region in the shot put (14.48 meters / 47' 6.25").
The current holder of the second fastest 100m time in Eagles' history, Kyle Clanton was named all-region for his 100m dash mark of 10.47 seconds. The time is good enough for second-fastest in the region. Kaegan Avalos secured an all-region spot with his 400-meter dash time of 48.45 seconds, which is fifth in the South.
Trey Birchett grabbed his spot on the list with his performance in the decathlon as the freshman has the third-highest total in the South with a best total of 5,337 points. Jake McNutt and Mike Smith rounded out the list on the men's side as McNutt earns all-region honors in the discus with a best throw of 44.29 meters (145' 4.0"). Smith achieved all-region status with the third-best hammer throw in the South at 57.81 meters (189' 8.0").
On the women's side, the 4x100 meter relay team of Jade Buckles, Adalia Coleman, Haleigh Hamlin and Kacee Hooker earned all-region laurels with their top-time of 47.99 seconds.
Additionally, Coleman made two more all-region lists with her 100-meter and 200-meter dash performances on the season. The ODAC champion in both events, Coleman boasts the fastest times in the south with 11.93 seconds (100m) and 24.28 seconds (200m).
Emily Smeds cracked the list with her 10,000-meter run time of 38:21.25, and the 3,000 meter steeplechase performance of 11:05.28. Mackenzie Young rounded out the list for Bridgewater with her steeplechase time of 11:12.71, which was the fifth-fastest in the South this year.
The Eagles will await the official announcement for qualifiers in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Championships begin Thursday, May 25, in Rochester, New York. The three-day event will take place at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
