Hannah Simmers to Perform with Bridgewater College's Oratorio Choir

The 60-voice Oratorio Choir at Bridgewater College will perform works by Eriks Esenvalds and John Rutter on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Carter Center for Worship and Music on the College's campus.

Among the performers are Hannah Simmers, a member of the class of 2025 and a(n) Music major from Bridgewater, VA

The Bridgewater College Oratorio Choir is a decades-old tradition at the College that provides the occasion for current students, faculty, staff, community members and alumni to come together to perform choral works. The performance is under the direction of Dr. Ryan Keebaugh '02, assistant professor of music at Bridgewater College, and will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

The program will begin with "Trinity Te Deum" by Esenvalds, a brief and brilliant hymn commissioned for the installation of Sir Gregory Winter as Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, on Oct. 2, 2012. Rutter's "Requiem" will follow. "Requiem" was first performed in its entirety on Oct. 13, 1985, at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas. Since then, it has become a favorite among choirs and audiences across the world.

Soloists during the performance are Ashlyn Fogleman '25, a music major from Mount Sidney, Va., and Parker Sale '25, a music major from Henrico, Va.

The performance is free and open to the public.
